A few months ago, I happened upon a Travel Channel show called Food Paradise that just happened to focus on bacon. They featured an interesting burger from a joint out in California called Slater’s 50/50 that specialized in a 50% beef, 50% bacon burger. That looked intriguing enough, but they seem to outdone themselves now.
Meet the ‘Merica burger. As its name implies, it takes a good thing and overdoes it. It’s a burger that’s made up completely of ground bacon. I’m not sure how that works, because I would think the bacon fat would cause the patty to shrink a great deal. If you think that’s the end of it, hah!
The bacon burger is then topped with additional thick cut bacon, a specially made “bacon island dressing”, bacon cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. (Yuck!)
Since I won’t be making the trek to California during July, I’m wondering if there have been any reports on how this tastes. A friend at work made some 50/50 burgers and brought them in a while back and those were quite tasty. I can’t help but wonder, though, if this bacon monstrosity is, dare I say, too much?
